PaaST (BinaryEncoding) · A specification of how an intellectual entity is digitally encoded and how the bit strings that contain that encoding should be processed in order to instantiate the intellectual entity in a form that enables it to convey information as intended.

- PaaST (1.0) 2017 (†860 p. 15): An Instantiation is related to only one BinaryEncoding, a logical consequence of the fact that a BinaryEncoding corresponds to only one IntellectualEntity. The BinaryEncoding represents the entity; the Instantiation expresses it. But a BinaryEncoding may have more than one Instantiation because the BinaryEncoding may be used to generate successive Instantiations over time. - PaaST (1.0) 2017 (†860 p. 21): It might seem that HumanReadableIntellectualEntity is equivalent to Manifestation and MachineReadableIntellectualEntity equivalent to RuntimeVersion. However, the two pairs are correlated, but not equivalent. A MachineReadableIntellectualEntity has only a RuntimeVersion, while a HumanReadableIntellectualEntity has both a RuntimeVersion and a Manifestation. Neither form of Instantiation is persistent. Both Machine- and HumanReadableIntellectualEntities are expressed in Binary Encodings. (†2463)
