General Notes

Target state comprises the set of values of the attributes of the preservation target, its parts and its associations with other objects that may change over time. Target state has specializations submission status, storage status, assessment status, verification status, target problem, and preservation description.

  • PaaST (1.0) 2017 (†860 p. 36): An instance of TargetState should be created whenever there is a change of state of a PreservationTarget, BinaryEncoding, DigitalComponent or Instantiation or when existing state data is verified in a PreservationAssessment. State changes include creation, deletion and modification of the value of one or more Features of an object. TargetState, thus, captures the impact of a PreservationAction on any PreservationTarget.
