n. ~ PaaST (Party)· A person or organization acting in, or authorized to act in, a specified capacity.

General Notes

A party is defined by the activity performed and not by who performs the activity. Thus the same person or organization can fulfill the role of more than one party and may include · initial holder, a party that at the start of activities within the scope of PaaST holds, owns, or controls digital information objects that are candidates for preservation · preservation director, a party that has responsibility and perhaps authority for the preservation of digital information objects; · preservation service provider, party that provides technological resources and services to carry out the preservation of digital information objects; · submitter, party that send digital information objects for preservation to a preservation service provider and is the primary respondent for any questions or issues with the submission.
